Date: Thursday 19th November, 2020

"Since 2009, BSP has delivered over 400 Community Projects in PNG and in countries that we operate in to the tune of over K10m," said BSP Head of Marketing and Public Relations, Gorethy Semi, whilst on the popular FM100 TalkBack Show today.

"We continue to do so this year equipping our communities with Wash Stations (Installation of Tanks and Sinks), medical equipment for hospitals and equipment Schools (Computers and accessories). Each of our Community Project is worth K30,000 and this year we're delivering 46 projects in PNG plus over 100 wash stations to respective communities in response to Covid-19," Gorethy added.

Head of Support Services Alicia Sahib, was also part of the radio show and spoke of BSP's biggest Social Justice Campaign on Gender, Family and Sexual Violence #BlackThursdays and what the bank has been doing to assist staff who are survivors, advocates and perpetrators.

"BSP recognizes the pervasiveness and severity of family and sexual violence impacting the workplace which demands everyone's attention therefore BSP is committed to providing a safer and supportive organisational climate for its staff who are faced with family and sexual violence and subsequently its broader impact within the community," Alicia said.

She added the #BlackThursdays campaign is simply standing in solidarity with victims and survivors of GBV and FSV and making it known, that BSP does not tolerate any form of violence and more specifically GBV and FSV as it affects a number of our staff.

"The BlackThursdays campaign amplifies our messages, where survivors have found their voices and have started sharing their stories which has motivated advocates to speak out as well. In sharing stories and creating awareness on the issue and the help that is available, hopefully we see a shift in mindsets towards a safer home and community," Alicia added.
